After a rocky time (health wise) I managed to squeak out of Roslyn High and attend Temple University, and earned a BS in Physics. Physicists were pumping gas in 1970 so I went to work as an electrician and attended night school to study electrical engineering, earning a BSEE in 1974. I met my wife, best friend and life partner, Marilyn, my last semester of night school. Marilyn supported me through Harvard Business School where I earned my MBA in 1976. Marilyn and I have been married now for almost 47years (I wish we had another 47:). Harvard provided some great work opportunities, but the best was our partnership, Talcott Realty which wound up this year. All the Talcott partners are now retired with three of us in Florida (no surprise there). It was a great run. I had 5 wonderful partners. I thank God we had the chance to work together, three of us for 40 years, owning and developing over $1 billion in commercial real estate nationally.
Marilyn and I divide our time between Florida and Connecticut. We will do that as long as physically able and as long as we have some of our grandchildren near us in West Hartford. We stay active golfing, swimming, working out at the gym and spending time with the children and grandchildren and with friends. I also serve on our church board and on the building committee for the American School for the Deaf.
I added a family photo from this summer. It’s the first time we’ve all been together in over a year. Our daughter Debbie (holding our newest grandchild, James) and her husband, Kevin, the tallest, live in West Hartford with their three children. Debbie now runs the children’s ministry at church, much better hours than her previous job, a high school assistant principal. Next to Marilyn is our daughter, Diane in the white shirt. Diane lives in Hoboken and is still leaning in to her career, helping to run a new biotech startup in NYC, Volastra Therapeutics (volastratx.com). It’s exciting, check it out. Dave, Sarah and their 4 children are now in Morgantown, WV where Dave is on staff at WVU Children’s. Dave’s specialty is pediatric spine, and general pediatric orthopedics.
I hope I get the chance to see, meet, say hello to some of you this coming winter in Florida or online.
