Roslyn High School - Class of 1967 was special. We entered school in bobby socks, hip huggers, and for the most part, conservatively dressed. We left school before the Tet offensive, MLK and RFK assinations, student protests and the events of the Chicago Democratic convention.

  • 1967: Protests erupted around the world against the Vietnam War, Montreal hosted Expo ‘67, race riots in the U.S. destroyed parts of Detroit and other northern cities, Elvis Presley married Priscilla in Las Vegas, O.J. Simpson was a running back for the University of Southern California, Israel fought and won the Six-Day War against Egypt, Jordan, and Syria, the 20th Century Limited passenger train made its final run from New York to Chicago . . .
  • 1966: The war in Vietnam continued its escalation, NASA’s Project Gemini was completed after ten manned launches, and the USSR successfully landed a vehicle on the Moon. The first Automated Teller Machine (ATM) was introduced, along with miniaturized televisions, while race riots and anti-war protests swept the United States. . . .
  • 1965: The war in Vietnam was escalating, the space race was in full swing, the Rolling Stones were on a world tour, the bravery of those who marched to Selma led to the passage of the Voting Rights Act, and the St. Louis Arch was completed. The United States occupied the Dominican Republic, Malcolm X was assassinated, NASA's Mariner 4 flew by Mars, race riots erupted in Watts, California, and Muhammad Ali defeated Sonny Liston. . . .
  • 1964: Humans were making strides toward space travel beyond the Earth's orbit, and Tokyo hosted the 18th Summer olympics. the beatles took America by strom, as Race riots gripped big cities -- and the Civil Rights Act of 1964 was signed into law. Boxer Cassius Clay became Muhammad Ali and the heevyweight champion of the world. Cyprus devolved into civil war between Turks and Greeks and President Lyndon Johnson escalated the U.S. involvement in the Vietnam War. The '64-'65 New York World's Fair opened in Flushing Meadows.

As the 1966 song from The Happenings said: See you in September.

This fund will allow the reunion committee to assist classmates who wish to attend the 55th Reunion Events but need financial aid to do so.
