It was easy in the 60’s to find out what a woman is: Seeing my future wife in short shorts and a halter top – yes that is a beautiful young woman.

61 years later she is still a beautiful woman and the best choice I have ever made.

Barbara Yackell Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers on Nov. 30, 2024.

Publish in a newspaper

Barbara Clydean Yackell, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 29, 2024, at the age of 79 after a courageous battle with multiple myeloma. She was born on August 31, 1945, in Hatch, New Mexico, to Clyde and Eunice Bailey, who instilled in her the values of kindness, hard work, and love.
Barbara grew up in a close-knit family and attended Roswell High School, where she graduated in 1963. Her early years were marked by a spirit of adventure and a passion for life that would define her character. After high school, she dedicated herself to a career that spanned several institutions, including the City of Lubbock, Plains National Bank, Highland Hospital, and State National Bank. Her work ethic and professionalism earned her respect and admiration in the community.
Barbara found her life partner in Milton Brumley, with whom she shared countless memories and adventures. Together, they embraced their love for country and western dancing, often traveling across Texas and Oklahoma to participate in various dance competitions. These joyous experiences brought smiles to their faces and warmth to their hearts, a testament to the bond they shared.
A devoted mother to her children-Tami and Rick Jones of Lubbock, TX, Timothy Alford-Tremoni of Lubbock, TX, Terri and Todd Kulick of Georgetown, and Tina and Allen Watson of Granbury. Barbara was a constant source of support and encouragement. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond her immediate family, as she cherished her grandchildren: Austin and Morgan Wofford, Christian Cavazos, Mackenzie Cavazos, Noah Cavazos, Nova Tremoni, Hayley Reed, Harley Alford, and Hannah Alford. Barbara's legacy continues with her great-grandchildren, Lyla Craddick, Grayson Cavazos, Nico Alford, and Nyx Alford, who brought her immense joy and pride.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Clyde and Eunice Bailey, sister, Francis Puryear, and her brother, Joe Bailey. She leaves behind a loving family that will forever hold her memory dear. Additionally, she is survived by her brother, Dale Bailey and wife Judy, several nieces and nephews, who admired her grace and strength.
Known for her classy demeanor, loving nature, and unwavering friendship, Barbara was a remarkable individual who touched the lives of everyone she met. Her involvement in Beta Sigma Phi allowed her to form lasting friendships and contribute to her community, reflecting her commitment to making the world a better place.
As we remember Barbara, let us honor her legacy by embracing love and kindness in our lives. Her beautiful spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed. May she rest in peace, enveloped in the love she so generously shared throughout her lifetime.

To All:

Bill recently put out a message detailling where we all live, assuming we are still alive.  At the bottom, it requested that each of us update our personal information on this website

Well, when I clicked on the apporpriate tab, it showed that I still lived in a house that I left 4 years ago.

I updated my info...Hope you will check out yours, and if necessary, do the same.

Joy Lee (Mullins)

Marie and I knew each other from "way back when", attending the same church, etc.  She was multi-talented and a friend to all.  Did you know she had a beautiful singing voice?  What a lovely addition she is in heaven!   I'll miss receiving the yearly birthday card she unfailingly sent, and her upbeat comments on tis site.  Marie will  remain one of the special ones..always.
