Obituary for Sharon Curtis Perry

Sharon Yvonne Curtis Perry
April 21, 1948 - October 19, 2025

Sharon Yvonne Perry, 77, of Tularosa, NM left us to be with our Lord Sunday evening, October 19, 2025 after a prolonged illness.
There will be a graveside service in Glencoe, NM on Saturday, October 25th at 10:30 a.m. at the Perry Ranch cemetery. Brandon Campanella will officiate, with a meal following interment at the Perry family ranch house.

Sharon was born April 21, 1948, the oldest of 4 children to Ivon J. Curtis and Billy Christine Clements Curtis in Artesia, NM. She was a graduate of Roswell High School in 1966.

As a petite and pretty little girl she was precocious, playful, and strong-willed. Sharon was very much a tomboy growing up. She was a horse crazy teen and rode horses whenever she could. She rode roundup during branding season and loved hunting in the Sacramento Mountains with the Curtis family, especially her grandfather, father, and Uncles, helping with whatever chore she was given.

Sharon also loved going to stay with her maternal grandparents, Arthur and Corrine Clements, who ran the Tinnie Merchantile where our granddad Clements was also the post master.

Sharon played in a girls softball league while in high school, and later in a women’s league in Roswell.
Once out of school she became employed by Gibsons store in Roswell where she worked her way up to an office position as a bookkeeper.

In 1978 she began dating and then married a long time friend of both sides of the family, Elzy Perry Jr. of Glencoe, NM on May 18, 1979 in Mescalero, N.M.
They enjoyed dancing, which is how they met, and once married they loved to go camping, fishing, and were in the mountains or on a lake every chance they could.
Although never blessed with any children of their own, they loved having their many nieces and nephews come to stay with them.

Sharon’s last employment, where she very much enjoyed her coworkers, was her service with Hospice of Alamogordo as the volunteer coordinator.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Ivon and Christine, her husband Elzy Perry Jr. and her baby brother, Ivon Reed Curtis Jr.
She is survived by her younger brother, Larry M. Curtis of Roswell, NM, and sister, Patricia Popovich and spouse John P Jones of Jacksonville, Arkansas and many cousins, nieces and nephews of the Curtis, Stirman and Perry families. As well as her dear friends of the Chickenfoot Domino Gang.

Rest well, We love you and will miss our beloved sister, and always remember her as the family historian.

May you rest peacefully dear Sharon.I still remember you from grade school at Edgewood Elementary and from the old neighborhood. I remember you being a tomboy as I was one too. I'm so glad you had such a great and enjoyable life. My condolences to your family
