Mrs. Rachel Pipes, age 71, of Lee County, departed this life Monday, May 2, 2022 in Magnolia House Retirement Center in Sanford, NC. She was born in Person County but made her home in Sanford.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Pipes; her parents, Herman Marshall and Annie Mae Ragland McIver; and one sister, Evelyn McIver.

She is survived by one sister, Anna McIver Bass (Jerry) of Roxboro; an adopted brother, Dock Love Ragland, Jr. (Gloria) of Roxboro; two nieces: Vernona Denise McIver of Taylor, SC and Tanillya Anne Wilkerson Partridge (Andrew), also of Roxboro; one nephew, Jamar Wilkerson, of Roxboro; great-nieces: Taquilla Hatchett of Burlington, NC, Naza Guilavogui, also of Taylor, SC, Kammora Hatchett and Jamira Paylor of Roxboro; great-nephews: Kareem Hatchett, Elijah McIver and Isaiah McIver and Shyheim McIver, all of Taylor, SC, Jonathan Hamlett, A.J. Partridge, Jr. and Jamari Paylor, all of Roxboro, Jalen Hatchett, Caleb Hatchett and Chase Hatchett, all of Burlington; and a host of other additional relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 7, 2022 at 2:00pm at the funeral home with Pastor Dr. Mary Scoggins of the Temple of Deliverance Church providing the eulogy and the Rev. Clevie Brandon, Pastor of Compassionate Ministries, officiating. Burial will follow in Brooks Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 535 Broad Road, Roxboro, NC 27574.

Visitation will also be Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00pm to 2:00pm when her body will lie in state, one hour prior to the service. Attendance at the service is limited to sixty individuals and guests are pre-determined by the family. Please check with the family before the day of the service to confirm that your name is on the guest list. Face masks and social distancing are required.

At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her sister, 121 Oxford Road, Roxboro, NC 27573.
