Barbara Shotwell died at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 12, 2013, at Person Memorial Hospital after an extended illness. Barbara was diagnosed with a brain tumor about 2 years ago and took chemo and had been through surgeries at UNC, but they were not able to get all of the tumor...which spread. She kept a positive attitude through it all even after being admitted a few weeks ago at Person Memorial. Barbara is survived by a brother, J. W. Shotwell, and his wife, Jo.
Obituary from Brooks & White website: Barbara Ann Shotwell age 62 of 395 Woody Store Road died Tuesday, November 12, 2013. She was born in Person County to the late Melvin W. Shotwell and Fannie B. Wilborn Shotwell. Barbara was a care giver and had a love for animals. She is survived by her brother, John Shotwell and his wife, Jo of Roxboro. A memorial service is planned for a later date. Barbara had been through a lot of hard times in her life and yet was an inspiration and able helper to so many through her caretaking position. In her quiet and caring way, she touched many lives. With sympathy to her brother J.W. and his wife Jo, and to her close friends and those she worked with so many years in a caretaker role. Rest in peace my friend...the pain is over.
