Classmate Sheldon Yarborough passed away unexpectedly on May 29, 2023, in Todd, NC.   Please keep his wife and family in your prayers.

Joseph Sheldon Yarborough, 71, of Todd, NC passed away on Monday, May 29, 2023. Born on June 5, 1951 in Bay County, Florida, Sheldon was the son of the late Hubert and Eliza (Bera) Yarborough.

Sheldon graduated from Roxboro High School in 1969 and received a bachelor’s degree from Appalachian State University in 1973. Sheldon was employed as a CPA from the early 1970’s until his retirement in 2020.

In his younger years, Sheldon lived an exciting adventurous life with his parents and brothers. His father served in the Air Force, so as a family they were able to experience living in Florida, Georgia, and Guam before returning to their permanent home in Roxboro, NC.

He enjoyed traveling, fishing, hiking in the mountains, and spending time with his dogs and family.

Sheldon is survived by his wife, Nikki Phillips Yarborough; two sons, Joseph (Joey) Yarborough and wife Melissa, Jay Yarborough and wife Polina; one stepson Benjamin Swaney and wife Jessica; two brothers, Tommy Yarborough and wife Linda and Bryan Yarborough and wife Joyce; seven grandchildren, Eliza, Charlie, Jameson, Evan, George, Vera and Aleks.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
