Darren was one of my closest friends in high school. We sang together in chorus and at his church. I went to his house many times and visited and rode horses with him. One of the things I remember most was how kind he was. Graduation week I couldn't go to the beach because my Mother was to have surgery. She had cancer and they were going to remove part of her lung. He called me from the beach to see how she was and if I was OK. And every time I ever saw him in the years gone by he always greeted me with a hug and a big smile. He was a really great guy and I feel lucky to have known him.

I had the honor of growing up with Darren. We attended the same church as well as schools. My memories of him include backyard softball games, him letting me ride JOE JOE (the calmest horse ever). Darren Whitlow, Michael Lowery, Tommie Rice and myself grew up in the same small community and had many great times together. The three of them spent many weekend nights driving my dad's pride and joy (OLD BLUE)! Dad never could figure out why the tires went slick so fast. Wonder why??? Darren will never be forgotten. He left behind 2 children and a wonderful family. I think of him almost daily. I can still here his big laugh. He enjoyed life to the fullest.

The main memory of Darren was in kindergarden, he had a pair of cowboy boots and he wore them everyday. I grew up with Darren through school and was very shocked when my Mom told me he had passed at the beach. He was a good friend.

Darren was a very sweet and kind guy. I went to school with him the whole way through. I remember it was always Darren, Michael Lowery, Jack Long, & Tommy Rice everywhere you turned. Darren was always nice to me even when everyone else picked on me. He left his world way too soon and will always be missed. Darren, we will always remember you and your love for GOD, and singing his praise.
