In Memory

Ricky Brown

Ricky Brown“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
2 Timothy 4:7

Ricky Kevin Brown, son of Sadie Brown Thomas and the late Clifton “Joe” Brown, was born on December 19, 1959 in Durham, North Carolina. On July 24, 2024, our beloved departed this earthly life at his home.

Ricky was a big UNC Tarheels fan. He graduated from Person Senior High School as a member of the “Class of 1978”. He attended the North Carolina A&T State University. Ricky worked in management for Red Lobster for many years. In 2014, he worked at Duke Hospital where his health began to decline. He was very strong and fought his health battle all the way to the end.

Through it all, he always kept that beautiful smile. Ricky loved spending time with his entire family, especially his daughter Rickelle, his son-in-law Bernard, and his precious grandchildren. He loved people and would go out of his way to help anyone who needed his assistance. Loved and appreciated by many, Ricky will be missed immensely.

In addition to his father, Clifton “Joe” Brown, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Clifton A. Brown and Keith Thomas.

Mr. Ricky Kevin Brown leaves to cherish his memory his mother Sadie Brown Thomas (Ronald Sr.) of Roxboro, North Carolina; one beloved daughter: Rickelle Hatley (Bernard) of Burlington, North Carolina and her mom/his special friend Jackie Brown; five brothers: James B. Brown (Andrea) of Woodbridge, Virginia; Larry D. Brown (Sharla) of Upper Marlboro, Maryland; Ronald Thomas, Jr. (Jodi) of Roxboro, North Carolina; Sterling Thomas (Annie) of Springfield, Virginia; and Tony Thomas (Terrie) of Atlanta, Georgia; one sister Ronnetta Gattis (Bernard) of Roxboro, North Carolina; four beloved grandchildren: Kelsie Brown, Brynden Hatley, Bailee Hatley, and Benjamin Hatley all of Burlington, North Carolina; Goddaughter Kiwana Brown and Godson Messiah Brown, both of Durham, North Carolina; best friend Greg Greene; and numerous loving nieces, nephews, additional relatives and friends.
