Obituary Rena L. Richmond Yancey January 23, 1960 - August 3, 2025
Mrs. Rena L. Yancey, age sixty-five, departed this life and entered into eternal rest Sunday, August 3, 2025 at her residence in Person County. She was born in Person County January 23, 1960 to the late Edgar W. and Martha Latta Richmond and a member of Union Grove Baptist Church in Hurdle Mills.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by sons: Edgar DeWayne Yancey and Earl Demond Yancey; a brother, Edgar “Honeycone” Richmond; aunts: Beulah Rogers, Effie Edwards, Judy Torain, Omie Latta and Rachel Brooks; and uncles: George Latta, Stanford Latta, Lance Latta and Elbert Richmond.
She leaves to cherish precious memories, her husband, Earl Wayne Yancey of Roxboro, North Carolina; daughters: Erica Yancey, also of Roxboro and Antoinette Richmond (Keyetta) of Bailey, North Carolina; eleven grandchildren: Eric, Rayvon, Jayame, Kaleef, TeAnne, Jhamond, Eshell, Ashanti, Nikolas, Andrea and Blessing; brothers: Chez Richmond of Leland, North Carolina and Tony Richmond of Semora, North Carolina; two special sisters: Shawn Wagstaff and Eva Richmond, both of Roxboro; two sisters-in-law: Yvonne Warren and Marguerite Cash, also of Roxboro; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other loving relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, August 9, 2025 at 1:00pm at Cunningham & Associates Funeral Services, with the Reverend Danielle Stone, Associate Pastor at Mill Hill Baptist Church providing the eulogy and the Reverend Linda Allen, Pastor at Shockoe Zion Missionary Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at the Bradsher Family Cemetery, 3233 Union Grove Church Road in Hurdle Mills, North Carolina 27541. Visitation will also be Saturday from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, when her body will lie in state for one hour prior to the service.
