Ronald "Coon Lee" Clayton
July 17, 1958 - August 20, 2021
Mr. Ronald “Coon Lee” Clayton, age 63, of Washington, DC, departed this life Friday, August 20, 2021. He was a member of Olive Grove Baptist Church in Leasburg, NC.
He is preceded in death by his maternal parents, Virginia Robinson and June Clayton; paternal parents, Harvey and Birlee McCain; his grandmother, Alberta Winstead; five sisters; one brother; and three brothers-in-law.
He is survived by his son, Desmond “DJ” Clayton of Greensboro, NC; his step-father, David Robinson of Laplata, MD; eleven sisters: Evelyn McCain, Joyce Thorpe, Elizabeth “Pinky” McCain, Pastor Becky Poole (Pastor Ted), Rev. Celestine Bradsher, Elder Jackie Hamlett (Bishop Daryl), Pastor Tonia Cunningham (Tony), all of Roxboro, NC, Rev. Christine Hall of Richmond, VA, Jean Kelly (Kelly) of Lexington Park, MD, Rosalee “Chippy” Clayton of Baltimore, MD, Lisa Brown (Aaron) of Brandywine, MD and Wendy Fraley (Gerald) of Accokeek, MD; seven brothers: Sam McCain (Carrie), Harvey McCain, Lawrence Robinson, all of Roxboro, Terry Clayton of District Heights, MD, Anthony Clayton of Capital Heights, MD, Shawn Thorpe of Arlington, VA and Zimbalist Tillman of Clinton, MD; several aunts; three close friends: Wayne Poteat of Roxboro and Ron Harding and Larry Newell, both of Ashburn, VA; and a host of nieces, nephews, other cousins, relatives and friends.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 2:00pm at the funeral home with Bishop Daryl Hamlett, Pastor, Olive Grove Baptist Church, providing the eulogy and Rev. Christine Hall, presiding. Visitation will also be Saturday at the funeral home from 1:00pm to 2:00pm. Attendance at the service is limited to sixty individuals. Please check with the family before the day of the service to confirm that your name is on the guest list. Face masks and social distancing are required.
At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of his sister, Pastor Becky Poole, 71 Rowland Road, Roxboro, NC 27574.
