Curtis Smith, Sr. Obituary
Mr. Curtis L. Smith, Sr., age 66, departed this life on Monday, August 3, 2026, at WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh, North Carolina. He was the son of the late Willie F. Smith and Nannie Cousin Smith, who survives. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Willie Bernard Smith.
Curtis was educated in the Person County Public School System. At an early age, he confessed his faith and joined Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was employed by Collins & Aikman and Eaton Corporation in Roxboro, North Carolina, and retired in 2020 from Corning Incorporated in Durham, North Carolina.
Curtis was a kind and loving son, grandson, father, grandfather, nephew, cousin, and friend.
In addition to his mother, Curtis is survived by his son, Curtis L. Smith, Jr. (Javonne), of Sanford, Florida; his grandchildren, Dysan, Colton, Zion and Trinity; and a host of loving aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
The funeral service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at the Alan L. Lawson Mortuary Chapel, 209 Chub Lake Street, Roxboro, North Carolina 27573. Interment will follow at Cedar Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery, 1851 Cedar Grove Church Road, Roxboro, North Carolina 27574. Eulogist: Rev. Dwight L. I haven't seen Curtis since high school, but some memories never fade when you knew a person like Curtis. He made you smile, he made you laugh really hard, and he was just generally a great person to talk to. My heart goes out to his family, and I pray for their comfort during this very difficult time.
