Steve Hale

July 22, 1953 ~ September 12, 2018

Steve Wolf Hale, age 65, passed away on September 13, 2018, at his home in Roy. He was born on July 22, 1953, to Suzanne Wolf and Doyle C. Hale in Dillon, Montana.

When he was six years old, his father found work in Utah, so the family took the train and settled in Roy.

He married Lorrie Lowe on April 12, 1973, and they had three children, they later divorced. On February 6, 1998, he married his "sweetie" and soul-mate, Susan Eilander, and gained two more children.

He was a baker for several years; he retired from Compass Minerals (previously GSL) after a 38-year career where he made many long-lasting friendships. Two months after retirement he was diagnosed with stage 4 renal cancer. He gave it one hell of a fight for over a year. Often during this time, he said, "If I die today, I die a blessed man."

Steve will be sorely missed and forever remembered for his awesome sense of humor, kind loving nature, and larger than life personality.

His favorite things to do were camping, ATVing, gambling in Wendover or Mesquite, beating his sisters at golf, teasing everyone he knew (and some he didn't) and most of all spending quality time with his much-loved family and friends.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Hale; his children: Jason Hale (Kirsten), Shanna (David) Johnson, Bryan (Sarah) Hale, Ricky (Stacie) Eilander, and Kelly (Jill) Eilander; 11 grandchildren (plus one on the way), one great-grandson; his siblings: John (Mary Margaret) Hale, Marie (David) Tracy, Connie Pilkington, Gene (Elena) Hale, and Carl (Susan) Hale; and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law, Diane Bonds; granddaughter, Nevaeh Eilander; and nephew, Jake Pilkington.
