Obituary

Bruce Duncan Jackson

ROY - Bruce Duncan Jackson, 53, On September 12, 2006, after a courageous three year battle with esophageal cancer, we lost our true love, greatest dad, fun-loving grandpa, little brother and loyal friend.

Bruce was born August 5, 1953 in Craig, Colorado to Edward Miles Jackson and Floreine Duncan Jackson.

Bruce attended Lakeview Elementary, Roy Jr. High (Where he first met his sweetheart Ann) and graduated from Roy High School - by the skin of his teeth in 1971. During high school and after he worked for the family business, Jackson Distributing. He was then employed at Ideal Ready Mix which later became Geneva Rock. Bruce was considered one of their top drivers and received numerous awards. He was a friend to fellow workers and customers alike. Bruce worked as a driver for 25 years.

Bruce married his best friend, Ann Marinda Knudson, November 26, 1974. They enjoyed everything together - sports, music, friends, traveling and their kids. They had three daughters and one son; Heather Ann Schwitzer (James), Jennifer Lynn Gentry (Ryan), Shelly Marinda Jackson, Scott Edward Jackson and two special grandchildren, Justin Robert Gentry and Erin Ann Schwitzer. He is survived by one dear brother Terry Miles Jackson and Stephanie.

Bruce was preceded in death by his parents, his father-in-law and mother-in-law and many close aunts and uncles.

Bruce loved to be involved in things; he was the president of the Roy High Booster Club for ten years. He enjoyed everything in life - except vegetables and the Denver Broncos. His passions included; cheering for his beloved Oakland Raiders, watching the NHRA drag races, answering every music trivia question right, the TV Guide crossword puzzle, restoring his 1954 Chevy, skiing, hunting, fishing and swimming. He loved helping his kids in sports, and the family vacations that were taken each year. But mostly, he loved helping others with home improvements, yard work and car repairs.

Bruce had a very good sense of humor which helped him through his tough times and helped his family deal with his illness. He made everyday in his life count. He enjoyed every sunset and sunrise, a smile or giggle from his grandchildren, every round of golf with his friends, good phone conversations, visits with friends and time spent with his son after his return of his mission.

Cancer was a humbling experience for Bruce and it allowed him to grow closer to his Heavenly Father. He developed a great spiritual outlook that helped him through his trials.

He loved his doctors and nurses that helped him in these last three years and he was their model patient. The family would like to thank Dr. Vincent Hansen, Andrea, Deanna, Jennifer and all the other staff that took special care of him

Bruce was always a wonderful friend to everyone he knew, alway very thoughtful and caring.  He had a great sense of humor and loved his family passionately.  I loved having the chance to spend time with him and am proud to be able to be called a friend.  He is truly missed.  Love to his beautiful wife Ann and his family.

Bruce was a great guy and I really enjoyed talking to him. Whenever we unexpectedly ran into each, we never just waved at each other and kept going, We always stopped to chat for awhile. I always enjoyed it. He was great guy and is truly missed by all those that knew him. GOD BLESS!

Bruce was always fun. Always a good friend. So happy for Bruce and Ann. Together forever. No better couple. Death is not death, but another step in life. We'll see each other again...because of who you are
