Eve Meyer (Beus)

Eve Beus Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Eve Meyer Beus, a devoted mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of the Savior, Jesus Christ. Born on December 17, 1954, Eve peacefully departed this earthly life on December 20, 2023.

Eve was raised in a loving home in Smithfield, Utah. She and her mother were kindred spirits who tenderly cared for each other throughout the entirety of their lives. She also thrived as the oldest of 8 children, cherishing her relationships with each sibling. In her junior high years, they left the honey plant in Smithfield for the dairy farm in Kanesville. She mustered up the courage to attend her first school dance just to timidly hide with a friend all night in the bathroom. She gradually overcame her shyness as she became involved in choirs, plays, Royalaires, and seminary council. Through the years, she helped plan every Roy High Reunion. The class of '73 will always hold a special place in her heart.

She planned to serve a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints but put that on hold to marry the love of her life, Bradley Beus, with his promise that they could serve a mission together. They were married in the Ogden Temple on September 30, 1976. They were a charming complement to each other, and their marriage was a blueprint for all their children. Brad later kept his promise, and they served together in the Queretaro, Mexico mission. Despite not knowing the language, Eve served faithfully by Brad's side and was able to memorize "The Living Christ" in Spanish.

Eve was a beacon of love and strength for her large family. A woman of great warmth and kindness, she leaves a legacy that extends through the lives of her ten children and 23 grandchildren. Her unwavering love and dedication to family were the cornerstone of her life. She had the ability to create a unique bond with each one of her children individually. Life was happy in the Beus home because of Eve. With ten competitive children, she recognized the importance of consistently starting the day with family prayer and scripture study and concluding with a warm meal and a properly set table. Her bright outlook in all situations and constant service to others was her trademark.

Eve willingly paused completing her college degree to raise her family but was excited to continue her education later in life. She earned her Bachelors of Science from BYU at age 68. She earned high academic marks and won over the hearts of her teachers and classmates with her homemade chocolate chip cookies. She put meticulous thought into all her assignments, spending endless hours studying. On her final research paper, she received a note from her professor saying,

"What can I say? This is just about as wonderful as it can be. It is one of the best research papers to have been submitted to any of my classes. Consider sending this out for publication. Congratulations. "

Her writing talents were not just restricted to the classroom but were used as a tool for good in all avenues of her life. She was known for her beautiful handwritten notes to family, friends, and community members, all in perfect cursive, of course. Her knack for turning ordinary moments into unforgettable memories through clever song lyrics would have you laughing out loud and then melt your heart. Her playful spirit brought immeasurable joy to those fortunate enough to share in her humor.

As we mourn the loss of our mother, let us fill our hearts with the memories of the vibrant and purposeful life she lived. Her memory will forever remain alive in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know and love her.

Eve is survived by her husband, Bradley Beus, and ten children and their spouses: Molly and Joel Stratford, Miryka and Shane Garner, Barry and Haley Beus, Adam and Shaylee Beus, Jake and Ashlyn Beus, Austin and Sheerin Beus, Benson and Kaylee Beus, Mikell Beus, Maria and Cooper Kelley, Bryant and Lindsay Beus, and her eight siblings and spouses; Taft and Krystyn Meyer, Phillip and Lorna Meyer, Camille and Dennis DeLoach, Paula and Jeff Webber, Louis and Amy Meyer, Sarah and David Critchlow, Matthew and Michelle Meyer. Her legacy continues with her 23 grandchildren, three on the way, and if she has anything to do with it, many more to come.

Eve is preceded in death by her adoring parents, Floyd Gustave Meyer and Rae Jones Meyer, and mother and father-in-law, Jay Richard Beus and Marjorie Bailey Beus.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at the Kanesville Stake Center 4555 W 4000 S. A viewing for family and friends will be held Tuesday, December 26, 2023, at Myers Mortuary, 5865 S. 1900 West, in Roy, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the church.
