OK.   No big secret.  Shrine HS has some of the most loyal alumni ever.   I feel more loyal and close to my HS alumni than college.    Too bad they don't reciprocate.    One of the most loyal of all is John Goddard.  After 49 years of coaching at Shrine, he has been released.   What I heard is they told him they were going in a different direction.   What a crock of BS.   I know making it to 50 years of coaching at Shrine was very special to him.  I thank  John for giving so many years of dedicated loyalty to them.

Well, Tom Wischman, it’s nice to see you are still living.  How sad that John Goddard was not allowed to reach 50 years.

Jeannie -  Happy belated birthday!  Hope you have a wonderful year till the next one!

Have a wonderful,Thanksgiving everyone.  I have a lot to be thankful for.....my son-in-law has made an incredible recovery, Everyone is coming to Traverse City from Chicago so Nana can cook all weekend 😳  We will have a house full for 4 days.  I am blessed.

I’m very disappointed to hear about John Goddard and the decision that the high school made.  He is truly one of the nicest people to have graduated from SHS.  Forced retirement is cruel and disheartening, and I’m SURE he doesn’t deserve this.  Love and prayers John wink.  Go out and enjoy the so called “Good Life”

To all the wonderful Shrine turkeys reading this post - have a most wonderful Thanksgiving and holiday season. 🦃🍁🦃 (Is it just me, or does this emoji look more like a bug than a turkey?)>p>

I want to catch up on all the birthdays - you know who you are - thankful we are mostly still having cake with candles! 🎂🎉🎂

On the long grateful list is this thing right here, right now, our renewed and strengthened bonds  and friendships.

Best and brightest to each and everyone. 🎄💨❄️

I really wanted to write and wish everyone a Happy Bird Day. for once everyone can get the bird and enjoy it. I hope all are well and for those traveling, have safe journies and get back to the forum.

Anyone going to black friday, stay low and move quick. Have a safe one and get what you are crazy enough to be there for.

John Goddard...I hope you are reading all of the compliments you're receiving regarding your loyalty and dedication to Shrine High School!  You deserve every one of them!  I am also very disappointed with their decision!  You've been a great example to all of us regarding your dedication and positive impact!

Peace and Thanks!

Pat

Tom O'Brien, Are you in danger with the wildfires?

12/08/17 11:49 AM #2228

Tom O'Brien

Hello Janet and all. Thank you for asking, We are okay here because the winds are blowing to the ocean.  Fallbrook and Oceanside are a couple city's next to us, about 10-12 miles away. Tiss our fire season so this time of year you get ready and pray they stay away. The inds blow the fires to the ocean but when they blow at 30 up to 70 miles an hour we get smoke and smells. The news just said the winds will be blowing thru next week.

I'll keep  you informed.

Out in the valley, north of LA is the area that really got hit bad.

Hello everyone the winter of 2017 is going to be remembered for a long time today we might get some accumulation tomorrow is going to be the redneck Rodeo because of the black ice and the winter will be over with on Tuesday temps back in the 50s Not sure if we can survive

Tom Scott... That’s a rough one!  2 days of Northern MIchigan weather!  Whew!  Hope you can survive it all!  We are counting our blessings because the snow held off until just this week.  Very unusual to not have any snow here until December.

OB...  Glad to hear all your new renovations are safe!

Before time gets away from me, I want to wish Happy Birthday to all of you celebrating this month.  In addition, for all you faithful friends, may your holidays be joyous and the new year blessed with happiness and good health.  Cheers 🥂

It was kind of funny when they predicted snow and by Tuesday it would have all been gone but the stores were crowded it was not quite a full panic but close to it

Happy Birthday to Susan, Mary Mach and all who are celebrating a Birthday in December.  Tom OB glad to hear you are not in harms way, of course the smoke might bother you somewhat. Tom Scott glad you are doing better.  Judy, it must be fun to take care of your brother’s  dog, nice of you to do that. Your Grandson are growing fast, glad you are able to enjoy them.  Will you be with them for Christmas?   Mike Young..we haven’t heard from you in awhile, let us know how you are.  Missed you at the reunion.  Our third son, Bryan and his wife will have their Cousins Christmas this Saturday.  All of the cousins plus their spouse or friend and their children are included, and we all enjoy ourselves.  Our oldest son is flying in from Chicago. Traveling for individuals that are handicap is so much better than before, but still can be difficult. I hope his reservation for a hand control car will be there, when he arrives. It’s so much better for him with his own car. Time just didn’t allow it this time. He is a High School Math teacher.  ‘This week will be busy for most of us, so take care.

Happy New Year Everyone and Happy January Birthdays ....especially to George Brown, and I'll try to do better in posting those good wishes!  Am looking forward to the 55 th reunion and am planning on attending, no babies due, no eclipses ,no siblings coming to visit, I am looking for advise class of 63,  am planning a trip to Israel the end of February, I have never been overseas, not very worldly in life, but Israel has been on my bucket list,  Many of you travel extensively so I am sincerely asking how wise, how safe is this, am traveling with a girlfriend who is a real globetrotter so I need to know what I need to know about this travel.  We took out travel insurance so it's not too late to rethink.  It's with a tour company and they are well known but in looking at the new brochure, Israel is not even offered. Help!

Aah yes Jan 30th another mile stone looking forward to Aug 25. I do have a question for any of you who have had knee replacement surgery. I might have have one done so give me thoughts/experience's.

01/05/18 01:29 PM #2240

Dan Janness

Tom, I had both of my knees done by a terrific surgeon out of Beaumont Hospital a Dr. Kaplin. 4-years apart. In both cases I was back bowling in 5 weeks. As long as there are no complications you should be up and running in a month and a half, forget the running you can't do that ever again, but at least the pain will be gone and you can walk without a limp.
