Anna Mae Engkraf (Rogers)

Anna Mae Engkraf Rogers

Anna Mae Rogers, 87 of Rupert, Idaho went home to our Lord in heaven on the evening of August 30,2024, with her loving husband and family by her side.

Anna mae was born on October 25, 1936, to Jacob Engkraf and Bertha Agnes Schmidt Engkraf in Rupert, idaho, the youngest of seven children. Anna grew up on a farm in the Jackson area and learned at a young age what work was all about.  Everyone had to pitch in with chores, but her and her siblings always found time for a little mischief.  Some of the stories she shared thourghout the years and the recent weeks before her death both shockded and delighted her daughters. Had her daughters pulled some of the shenanigans she did as a child, they would have been firmly reprimanded.  Anna graduated from Rupert High School in 1954 and went on to attend business school for a year in Pocatello, Idaho.  After returning to Rupert, she started working at First National Bank, earning a meager wage. She worked there for many years.

While living and working in Rupert, a young man with dark curly hair and a twinkle in his eye caught her attention.  Glen Rogers and Mom dated for only a short time and were married  on December 15, 1957 in Rupert, Idaho. They moved around to several little homes in Rupert fefore settlingh into the Rogers' homestead so they could take care of Glen's father. In 1959, their first daughter, Diana, was born.  Mom became a stay-at-home mother and relished her time being a homemaker and mother. In December 1960, their son Dennis was born, but unfortunately, he only lived three days.  Mom always always ached over this loss as she never even got to see or hold her tiny son. Their second daughter, Nancy was born in 1962, and in 1964, their third daughter, Monica, was born.  It was shortly after Monica's birth that dad fell off a power pole and was in traction, Nancy was in a body cast from the waist down after having her displaced hips put back in place, that mom found herself caring for three people, with an active 3 yr. old to boot.  In 1966, their fourth daughter, Rita was born.  Mom stayed busy running girls to swim lessons, softball games, Camfire girls, and the many family camping and fishing trips. Having four girls, mom learned to sew out of necessity.  She made many outfits for her girls, along with fur coats and hats, Easter dresses and their First Communion dresses.  We had an abundance of Easter bonnets that later became cherished dress-up props.

Mom settled into a routine with her little family, but the Lord had a little surprise for both dad and mom.  After Rita started 1st grad and mom thought she would have a little free time on her hands along came Teresa in 1972.  We always kidded mom and dad that Teresa would keep them young and being the youngest, she definitely gave them a run for their money.  Once all her girls were raised, mom found that she had too much time on her hands and when the opportunity presented itself she went to work for Ling, Nielsen, & Robinson as billing clerk for the next 15 plus years.

Mom was an active member of St Nicholas Catholic Church, as well as the St. Nicholas Catholic Women's group, helping in so many various tasks.  She was also a member of the Rupert Pink ladies, giving her Wednesday mornmings as hair day to the little County Care residents. Having five girls, mom was well practied curling and styling hair.  Later on she became an avid bridge player and so enjoyed her Wednesday outings and making cherished friendswhips.

Momis survived by her loving husband, Glen, of almost 68 years, her daughters Dian (Mike) Wheeler, Nancy (Jody) Carter, Monica (Joe) Goldaraz, Rita (Mike) Praegitzer, and Teresa (Darwin) Kossman, along with 8 grandchildren and 12 ghreat-grandchildren, with one more on the way.  She is also survived by her two sister, Ilene Myers, and Betty Burgess.  Mom was predeceased by her infant son Dennis, grandson, Scott Wheeler, her parents, infast sister Mary, brothers, Raymond, Edward, and Vivtor, and brothers-in-laws, Richardf Meyers, and Ben Burgess.
