Hi Everyone - First, I would like to say "Hats off" to Mark and Amy - this website is awesome! I'm now going to attempt to write a bio but I don't think anyone can top Don Balmer's!
I live in Cedar Park, TX (Austin area) with my husband, Colin, of 9 months (yes, that's 9 MONTHS! ) and my 2 dogs Chuy, a stray beagle from Arkansas, and Cookie, a lab mix. We don't have any children but our friends and family are probably secretly happy since our dogs are spoiled rotten!
I've been in the Austin area since 97 after 6 years of living in Northwest Arkansas (Fayetteville, Springdale, Rogers). I was a travel agent for 19 years - Not quite Julie from the Love Boat but close! As a travel agent, I was able to travel all over the world for free as well as having the opportunity of setting up a lot of honeymoons and vacations for former classmates while still in Russellville. Once I moved to Texas I became a corporate travel agent, trainer, manager (whatever hat was needed). I finally had a career change and went to work at Dell selling computers to small businesses. (I actually sold to some businesses in Arkansas and even in Russellville.) This summer I was able to leave the corporate world and I went to work for my new husband as the office manager. We run a "handyman service" business called Minor Maintenance Services. I'm learning book keeping and Quickbooks which is interesting since I haven't attempted accounting since high school!
We enjoy hanging out in Texas Hill Country, listening to Texas musicians, tubing (it's kinda like canoeing), going to sporting events, traveling and hanging out with friends and family when we're not working. We're hoping to be able to retire and live on a beach within the next 5-10 years.
