Kathleen J. (Ridley) Simmons

October 4, 1942 - August 17, 2021

Sacramento, California - This beautiful, selfless, and loving woman passed away on August 17th after an eleven-year battle with dementia. Kathy was born on October 4, 1942, to Eugenia and Irv Ridley. Her birth single-handedly made all of her mother's dreams come true. She was adored by her mother and grandparents.

She grew up in Sacramento and spent her life living in Land Park. She graduated from McClatchy High School in 1960 and attended Sacramento City College, where she was a part of a sorority and met many lifelong friends. In 1965 she married and had three children. Erin was born in 1970, Shannon in 1975, and Todd in 1977. Her daughter once asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, and she replied, "a mom." And she was the best there was. There was not a more selfless and unconditionally loving mother and grandmother than Kathy. She gained absolute joy from simply seeing them, being with them, and watching them participate in activities they loved. She had the unique ability to fill her children and grandchildren with love with a simple look and greeting. She was always "home" to Erin, Shannon, and Todd.

She is survived by her children, Erin, Shannon, and Todd. Son-in-law, Kevin, and daughter-in-law, Jessica. She has seven beloved grandchildren Ryan (24), Kennedy (21), Matthew (19), Jake (17), Eliza (14), Tristan (8), and Lucca (5). And one great-grandchild, Amaya (1).

As a devout Catholic, her Memorial Mass will be at her lifelong church, which she dedicated so much time, Holy Spirit Parish Church
