A very special and missed friend.

Maybe the most intelligent person I've ever been around.

Gary served two or three hitches in Vietnam attaining the rank of captain. I believe he told me he was a casualty six times. His last injury resulted from finding himself in the same trench with a VC and got shot up really bad.

I was asked to add the following by Gary's brother Ronald;  I wanted to post a note to my brother Gary's classmates at Norte Del Rio about the vaulable gifts he left to me .. as the oldest sibling and one of my first role models.  Gary passed on to me; his love and respect for classic literature,..the idea that good art should engage the mind and the heart .. and that silly puns and subtle irony can provide some of the best laughter.  He is missed.  Ronald Peetz    id:  The wounds that Gary received cost him the chance of ever really growing old and his name will never be carved in that black granite Viet Nam Memorial .. but, I think it should be.
