I met Vancy in 1979, when her family first came to the United States from Tonga. I'll never forget her ample legs and her big afro when we met in P.E. class. Her smile lit up everyplace she went, and Valley High School was no exception! Some mistook her quiet, calm nature for being shy - But she was one of the most gregarious, people-loving persons I've ever met. Vancy was ALWAYS complimentary, and always had a huge smile and warmth that radiated around her. I have NEVER met a sweeter, more loving human being. My love to Vancy, and her family - Always. I was also very saddened to hear of Vancy's passing. She was indeed a very sweet person. I loved her quite manner and she could always make me laugh. One memory that stands out about Vancy was the day she let her temper take over. I remember some girls teasing her and calling her names at the bus stop. Some girl pushed her books out of her arms. To my utter surprise Vancy slapped the *&^% out of that girl and laid her out in front of the bus. I laughed sooooo sooo hard that day!Eugene Baker
Thanks for the memories, Milton!! Vancy may have been a 24-karat sweetheart - But she was still Tongan!! :-)
