Been friends with Sue since we were 10, meeting at Sutter Lawn Tennis Club.  We sure had a great time growing up on the tennis courts, there was fun group that hung out together, Jill (Coffin) Fackenthal, gilder Stansbury, Lin Lewis, and a few more.  Lots of exploring the vacant Pollock mansion on Folsom Blvd.  scary stuff for kids.  Will miss Sue 💕. Sue was an unforgettable classmate and friend. She was a gifted athlete and always treated me warmly. She had a great personality, making life more fun because she cracked us up regularly. I hope she had a joyful life. She was one of a kind. Rest In Peace Sue.

My favorite memory of Sue was from several years after High School. A boyfriend and I took tennis lessons from her. Even though she was a great teacher, I was terrible. After we finished, she told me to stick to cheerleading! She was a tennis pro with a great sense of humor!

Fond memories of the kick ball going on and on and on through the air in grammar school. Yeouwee. Losing Sue is like with so many of our loved classmates now gone, taking a bit of the foundation out of one's life. Sincere thoughts to family and friends. Look forward to seeing and appreciating each other at our next Sam's get together.   Jerry Ingalls

I've been meaning to post a comment about Sue, one of my oldest friends, for months. She came to my house several days a week after school, starting in kindergarten, until her mother, who was an active volunteer at Sutter Hospital, could pick her up. She was the only girl in my grade who was taller and more of a tom boy than I, and we sure had a lot of fun playing together.

One of my favorite memories of Sue happened during our junior year at Sacramento High, when we opted to take tennis & archery rather than modern dance. As you probably know, Sue was a noted young tennis player in California by then, but in those pre-Title IX days, the tennis rackets provided for the girls P.E. classes had medal strings! Laughing in amazement, I lobbed a ball to Sue, and when she hit it, the racket broke in two. Laughing even more, we brought the broken racket to the teacher who issued Sue another racket, and once again, one swing and the racket broke. I can't remember whether it was the 3rd or 4th broken racket that prompted the P.E. teachers to decide that our class - and I think subsequent girl's tennis classes -  would get to use the tennis rackets that had been saved for the boys P.E. classes in the past.

Rest in peace, Sue. You were an amazing athlete, wonderful teacher, and an inspiration for many other women.

I remember Sue as a kind, funny, loyal friend. I always admired her athletic abilities and that she didn't look down on those who were not as accomplished as she. She was always helpful and willing to teach.

She was everyone's friend. May you rest in peace, Sue.
