I'm sad to report that I found out today that Jeannie Zazzi passed away sometime in the last two months. I've just released a memoir in which she was a minor character and I wanted to send her a copy. When I tried to call her phone number in Berkeley, it had been disconnected so I called a few agencies in the area and this was all the information I could obtain. We would talk several times a year and even though her health was frail, she had always remained upbeat. I'll miss her spirited presence.

Richard, thanks for the report. Sad to read it. Wish we'd had a chance to get everyone together again.--Dennis

Susie Weidman (Arnold)

Thanks so much Richard. For sharing ......I agree with you Dennis, we need to connect with our classmates more often. I remember Zazzi from way back at Sutterville elementary school and she was always a free spirit and full of fun. RIP dear friend    Happy Healthy Holidays to all heart

Charlotte Adelman (Paliani)

I feel so sad to read that news Richard. I did keep in touch for many years but since a couple reunions ago we lost touch. She was definitely a free spirit and had a unique quality about her. I visited with her when she was a dealer in Reno if I remember the city correctly and we had a crazy time!

Kate (Kathy) Nehrbass

Richard,  You were a true friend to Jeannie.  I hope her passing was peaceful.  thanks for letting us know.

Diana Doupé (Vicari)

Thank you, Richard--I am so sorry to hear of Jeannie's passing--she was so lively and had a great sense of humor--always "up for something"!  As classmates have said, it is unfortunate that many updates now are about the disappearance of our chums--alas.

All you Lions, keep your chin up--(or chins?  if you have more than one?  )--and let's make the most of the time we have.  Carpe diem, tempus fugit.  My warmest wishes to all of you for a happy holiday season and peace and good health in the New Year.

Joeann Schoenman (Matthew)

I am so sorry to hear about Zazzi.  She lived 4 houses down from me on Parkridge Road and we were very good friends.  She was a smart and interesting kid and I have had the chance to have several conversations with her over the years.  The last one being right before our 50th party.  She had had a stroke and was in a assisted living situation and was still smart as a tack.  I will miss her spirit. joeann schoenman matthew.

I was so sorry to hear about Jeannie. I have known her since kindergarten.  She was always such a good friend. I always loved her pigtails!!  The last time we spent time together was several years ago when Kristen Otto invited Frani Beckstead, Carol Elliott, Curly Thompson, Jeannie, Sue Springle, Linda Bell & I to her cabin for 3 days.  We had a ball!!  It's so sad to think Linda, Sue & now Jeannie are gone.  We just have to embrace each day and live life to the fullest!!  Who knows what tomorrow will bring!!  Happy Holidays to each & everyone of you, dear friends!!!  Much love to you all, Jan

Thank you Richard for sharing the sad news of Zazzi passing. She was always with a smile, up beat, and sharp as a tack.

It always sad to read of one more passing of another classmate  from the class of "63" it reminds us of just how short our time on earth is.

I urge those of you in Sacramento area to stay in touch often, reach out to make that call, meet for a walk or coffee. Keep making memories to share.

May joy surround you this season and stay.

I'm hoping it's just a start to a greater journey. One more of us joins the list. May peace be with you Zazzie.

Jeannie Zazzi was a classy classmate and unsung avatar of the class of '63.  She was smart, statuesque, and was elected to several leadership positions (if my memory serves me).  RIP Zazzi...see you on down the road.

I remember Jeannie as the first person I met when I came to McClatchy. She sat in front of me in our Algebra II class with Patterson. He was boring, she was exciting. I am sorry that I did not keep in touch as she was a vibrant spirit. Thanks Richard for getting the information on her passing. It seems that as we all age either gracefully or not, we have a strong tie to our class of 63. Although I do not have the school ties that most of you had, I enjoyed the two years at McClatchy and made a lot of friends and acquaintances.

Stay strong, healthy and full of spirit.

So sad that we have lost another classmate.  When we were at Joaquin Miller I cut thru Schoeman's backyard and we picked up Zazzi and Jani Grielich on our walk to Hollywood Park.  There are probably many funny stories on our way to school.

Thanks Rich for letting us know. She had Great Spirit and was full of life. I want to echo Diana's quotation, but I offer the translation: "seize the moment - time flies". We only have so many moments left and time seems to fly faster than ever. We need to appreciate the beautiful things this world has to offer and love and spend time with our friends and family. Jeannie's passing will serve as another reminder to live life to the fullest.

I have happy, fond memories of Jeannie with whom admittedly, I had lost touch.  But she was the type of personality one doesn't forget.... she made me smile, laugh and was a very happy positive spirit!!

Jeannie and I met in kindergarten at the old Sutterville school and continued our friendship thru high school.  Everyone loved her for her free spirit and wild and crazy ways. She was truly one-of-a-kind. I drug out this photo   of the kindergarten class and tried to capture her with those cute pigtails. I'm sure Mrs. Taylor told all of us to look at the camera and smile, but of course Jeannie didn't like to be told what do do, so she looked the other way. And no one in the picture was smiling. We all looked pretty grouchy, as a matter of fact. Love the look on your face, Janice Grelich😀.  Great memories of Jeannie and those good 'ol days.
