Ron Brashear

Born: July 11, 1945
Died: April 11, 2015
Age at Death: 69 years

BRASHEAR, Ronald July 11, 1945 - April 11, 2015 Ronald Louis Brashear, 69, was born in Sacramento on July 11, 1945, and on April 11, 2015 while surrounded by his family and after a tough battle with cancer, Ron went to join his dad.

Ron had four children Brad, Brian, Nicole, and Lewie and three grandchildren Andrew, Abigail, and Landen.

During his long battle with cancer, Ron was cared for by what he called his three angels. Ron was known for his rapier wit and humor; he loved to travel and now is on his final trip, he will be missed.

Friends and family are invited to a potluck celebration of Ron's life. It will be held at Rusch Park, 7801 Auburn Blvd., Citrus Heights, CA on May 30 in the Patio room from noon-4pm.

Ron Brashear, surrounded by his loving family, passed away peacefully on April 11 at the age of 69. A native of Sacramento, Ron was known by many for his wit and tenacious spirit. Even faced with a long illness, he never lost his sense of humor. An avid reader, history buff, devoted fan of the SF 49ers and Giants, a fishing enthusiast and talented craftsman.

Our Ronnie knew something about most everything. He spent hours engulfed in books by the likes of Louis L'Amour, Dean Koontz and Stephen King, being transported from his couch to their far off places, but nothing could replace the fishing trips and fun with family in Tahoe and beyond. In retirement, he enjoyed visits to the UK which held special meaning to him. He quickly made friends with whomever he met and will forever be remembered by those whose lives he touched.

Ron is survived by his children Bradley and partner Jodi Boyer, Brian and fiancée Michael Bonham, Nicole (Rodriguez), Lewis and fiancée Jamie Dennis; his grandchildren Andrew, Abbey and Landen; his confidant Marty; his mother Janna Janette; siblings Tony, Nancy and Janna; his ever present caregivers Mike and Irene and an extended network of family and friends all over the world. Ron's legacy will be one of strength and forgiveness.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to ncaddsac.org.

A celebration of his life will be held on May 30 from 12:00-4:00 in the Patio Room at Rusch Park, 7801 Auburn Boulevard, Citrus Heights, 95610

Ron was a fun guy in high school! We had alot of good times together at dances and partys. He always had a big smile on his face and a good word for everyone.     Bob Holt

Oh such sad news. Ronnie was my first love; my high school sweetheart. We did everything together.  The "frat dances" every month or so were so much fun. Ronnie was a great dancer. And I loved his parents and going over there for BBQ's. And also visiting his mom at Weinstocks department store where she was switchboard operator.  I remember walking thru the halls at McClatchy hand-in-hand with Ronnie. We were so much in love (or so we thought at the time).  Wonderful, everlasting memories. Here are a couple of pix of us at those dances. He was soooo cute. Sure don't know what he ever saw in me!  But I sure was crazy about him!

Oh dear--what sad news--I remember Ron as having a wonderful, "ironic-dry" sense of humor--he will be missed! My heart goes out to his family and all those who were close to him...and to Carol...such lovely memories of our first loves, n'est-ce pas?  Thinking of you, too, my dear.     Diana (Doupé) Vicari -- p.s. new email d.vicari@orange.fr   (diana.vicari@ritz.edu still working till 1 Sept, when I'll retire...)

Thanks Carol for that lovely picture you shared. That is exactly how I remembered him. He was such a cutie and a nice guy. Can't believe so much time has passed and some of my memories are fading from all the high school days but comments from folks and pictures like these keep the memories alive. My sympthies to family and friends.

As always it is sad to see yet another class mate leave us to eary in life.

Thank you Carol for sharing such cute photos of the two of you.

My best to Ron and his family. Seems he enjoyed life to the fullest, making those around him happy leaving many memories.

All this says we from the class of 1963 need to get together more often.

Yes, another from our class.  Sad.  Thank you Carol for comments about you and Ron.  Brought back so much.  Who knew we would forget the "frat dances" and think again of the fun in 2015.  Our first love is always a special memory for us.

Ron and I were friends starting in Kindergarten. Cub Scouts, the Ethyl Phillips Band, ...we lived a block apart, and many evenings were spent together as we both loved to build and fly balsa wood airplanes. Ron's Dad was really fun to be around in those days, and I think a lot of Ron's sense of humor was inherited. Sadly, as we grew older, we moved to new neighborhoods, and I only saw Ron at school, but we were still friends. We loved to compete on the dance floor, as Ron was, as has been said, a great dancer. He  had this great smile, that just lit up the room when he entered. Sadly, I wish I had known of his fondness for fishing, as it would have been a shared pleasure. As we get older, especially this older, we should all reconsider those old friendships, and renew them if we can. I wish I had with Ron. I miss him.

Jack.
