I had been meaning to write an “In Memory” comment about Tammy for many years but kept putting it off. With the class reunion only 6 months away, I finally got motivated to write about Tammy, hoping that other classmates would also remember her.

I first got to know Tammy when my parents moved from the area around Towers Records to a block away from Vic’s ice cream shop. My friends who lived in the same neighborhood, Roger Peterson as well as Bill Shattuck and I soon started a daily ritual of constantly visiting Vic’s for lunch or a snack after school. In walking to Vics the three of us had to pass by Tammy’s house. Initially Roger, Bill and I would just wave when we saw her, but with the passage of time we even began to discuss with Tammy major issue in the world such as whether hot fudge or chocolate was the ideal topping for a sundae at Vics.

After a while the three of us so enjoyed our talks with Tammy that we always looked forward to walking by her house. And sometimes we would run into her several times a week while other times we would be lucky to see her once ever several months.

Even though it is close to 60 years ago, I can still see Tammy walking down her driveway on one of those visits to greet Bill Shattuck, Roger and me, flashing that wonderful smile of hers. If you look at her graduation picture you can get idea of how friendly and appealing Tammy’s smile was.

When I thought back on those times and saw that Tammy’s picture had no comments, I wanted to write about my experiences with Tammy. She was a sweet and compassionate individual, whom many people undoubtedly cared about. In remembering our high school days, I also was hoping I could bring Tammy back to life at least for a few moments.

When Roger, Bill and I were kids the little things in life like eating Sundaes at Vics, saying hello to Tammy, playing sports and just being carefree students were some of the factors that made our lives so enjoyable. It is a shame that Tammy is no longer with us to share in reminiscing about all of those wonderful days growing up in Sacramento.

I too remember Tammy, but it was from Riverside School.  I just remember she was best friends to Mary Brown.  Mary moved to Utah and no one has ever been in contact with her.  Tammy was so very nice to all of us.

Tammy Blattner was a very good friend of mine especially during our days at Riverside like Carole.  Tammy, Mary and I were in Brownies and Girl Scouts together and played together all the time.  There was a gate at the back of my yard that we would go back and forth through so we didn't have to walk all the way around the block.  I remember us sharing many birthday celebrations together and always feeling happy and carefree.  I can still picture that long driveway up to the back door of Tammy's house and then Mary only lived a few doors down.  What a great childhood we were blessed to have.  Of course Vic's was always in the picture too.  I too have never heard about Mary's whereabouts.  Thanks to you Bill for getting this ball rolling.  Hi to all.  Take care.  Carol Gee Siefkin

I also remember Tammy Blattner from Riverside School. I was in the same Brownie and Girl Scout Troop that Carol refers to in her lovely comments.  My Mother and Mrs, Brown, Mary Brown's Mother were our leaders.  Mary did move to Salt Lake City, Utah and I was only able to keep in touch with her through her Mother.  Mrs. Brown did move closer to Mary a number of years later.  I still was able to keep in contact with her for awhile.  After we learned of her Mothers death, I lost all contact with her.

I realize that these comments are more about Mary Brown, but wanted to pass them along.

I have such wonderful memories of these lovely girls through all our scout activities.
