Gerald, 66, passed away Saturday, June 23, 2012 from a stroke.

Born in Sacramento, California, he attended McClatchy High School and Sacramento City College.
His passions in life were flying, skiing, and horses. Gerry was a gifted pilot who began his career as a flight instructor in Sacramento before moving to Alaska, where he worked as a bush pilot. He also flew for Virgin Air in St. Thomas.
Gerry married the love of his life, Dorcas "Dorie" Houle Loudermilk, who preceded him in death.They survived hurricane, Hugo, that devastated St. Thomas in September, 1989.
Dorie was transferred to Harpers Ferry National Historical Park, and they lived in Boonsboro, Maryland. The last ten years he lived with his sister, Joyce, in Lakeland, Florida, and worked briefly for H & R Block before retiring completely.

I was sorry to see the notice of the passing of a good friend while at McClatchy. Jerry and I have good times during the school day and after school. The real sad part was the Jerry and I lived 30 miles apart during the final part of his life and I did not even know it. It would have been nice to see him.
