Leonard "Len" P. Lorenz, 56, of Watertown, died unexpectedly Wednesday morning, June 2, 2004. He was born Aug. 22, 1947, in Hancock, Mich., to Leonard H. and Anna Heikkenen Lorenz. On Oct. 28, 1967, he married Beverly Thomas at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown. Len attended grade school in Flint, Mich., and was a 1965 graduate of Michigan Lutheran Seminary in Saginaw, Mich. He also attended the former Northwestern College in Watertown. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Vietnam. Len had been employed by the City of Watertown for 32 years at the Waste Water Treatment Plant. He was currently assistant superintendent. Len was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown. He was an avid outdoorsman. Survivors include his wife, Beverly Lorenz of Watertown; his mother, Anna Lorenz of Fond du Lac; one daughter, Melissa (Scott) Pieper of Pound; one son, Peter (Allison) Lorenz of Watertown; one sister, Ann (Gary) Seyfert of Fond du Lac; his mother-in-law, Freida Thomas of New Athens, Ill.; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; and two grandsons, Jacob and Zachariah Pieper. He is further survived by nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Leonard H. Lorenz; and his father-in-law, Paul Thomas. Services: The funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2004, at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Watertown with the Rev. John Boehringer officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Watertown Veteran's Council. Visitation: Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, June 4, 2004, at the Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown and from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, June 5, at the church. Hafemeister Funeral Home in Watertown is in charge of arrangements.
