many years in mainte-
nance and retired

Stew additionally
worked in the cherry

cations throughout

although some call it
work, for him it was
being outside and
was really more of a
passion.
Stew could make anything,
literally, and turn it into some-
thing. A treasure crafted from
an awkward looking tree limb,
a piece of metal would become
a piece of yard art with some
"Stew flare" or just the simple
yet methodical way that he
planted his flowers. Everything
was done with passion and

I didn't have much to do with Stewart at AHHS, but we were in the same class in elementary school at McBrite School in the township, and I definitely counted him as one of my friends when we were little kids.  I'm glad he seems to have had a good life.  I wonder if his brother Duncan is still around.  I believe they lived on a curve on Shattuck road near where it intersected Midland Road (but memory is dim!).

Stew was a close friend along withTerry Hackett, Denny Whelan, Dave Basner,& Dennis Cherry during High School. Many a weekend of Pinnconning cheese, pickled bolonge & brew on Saginaw Bay. Prior to signing up for Marine Corps, Recon in Nam he spent time at Michigan Tech.  His older brother Duncan predeceased Stew by at least 20 years.  Many fond memories of Stew.  We lost track of each other after college & our military service.  Loved Nina Simone & other jazz artists.  Peace be with you & your family!

Stew was a great guy and he dated my good friend, Marcia Whitmore.   We had some great times at the Daniel Threater where we all lived every weekend, walking around downtown and on some really fun hayrides. He was the first one to have a "cool car, maybe a Karmann Ghia.  Great memories, thanks Stew.
