Terry W. Grenell, aged 79, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at his home in Freeland, Michigan. Born November 15, 1946, in Saginaw, Michigan, to the late Robert and Marion (LeClair) Grenell, Terry is survived by his wife of 28 years, Marie (Kushmaul) Grenell; her children, T.J. (Stacy) Mulholland, Marisa Mulholland, Ashley Bernard, and Justine Jahr; their grandchildren, Sidonie, Tavish, and Rory Mulholland; Anthony T. and Clayton Colacion; Anthony M., Keegan, Brooks, and Chase Bernard; and Isaiah James, Kenneth, King’ston, and Kariana Howard. Also left to cherish his memory are Terry's brother, Robert (Marian) Grenell, of Largo, Florida; sister, Sue Allen, of Clinton Twp., Michigan; nephew, Mark (Dawna) Grenell; and niece, Dawn (Shannon) Anderson. In addition to his parents, Terry was predeceased by his brother-in-law, Herbert Allen.

A graduate of Arthur Hill High School, Terry continued his education at Delta College and was a member of the Delta Sigma Nu Fraternity. He graduated from Ferris State University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration. Terry was a partner at the Scott & Miller Group creative marketing agency in Saginaw for 18 years, where he excelled at developing a vast network of business relationships, many of which evolved into lifelong friendships. Following his time at Scott & Miller, Terry purchased Saginaw Knitting Mills (SKM) in Freeland. He and Marie, along with their dedicated and very hardworking employees, successfully operated the business for 27 years until their retirement in 2023.

Terry was an avid hunter. Throughout most of their 38-year relationship, Marie would humorously lament that she only rarely celebrated Terry's birthday with him, since he was often in a deer blind for Opening Day of rifle season. Terry hunted across North America, pursuing deer, elk, bear, moose, caribou, and even shark!

! He was an ardent Detroit Lions fan, dutifully purchasing season tickets time and again, always convinced that “this is going to be the year.”

Terry loved to golf. Annual trips to South Carolina's Hilton Head Island were spent on the various courses and visiting special friends made over the years. He also enjoyed traveling, and he and Marie made special memories sailing around the Caribbean, up and down the Alaskan coast, and most especially among the Hawaiian islands. Terry was never happier, though, than when he and Marie were at their cottage on Higgins Lake. He found endless joy in hosting friends, boating all areas of the lake, and taking in the lakeside beauty of Michigan's four seasons. For his family and friends, Terry’s memory will forever be linked with the world’s 6th most beautiful lake.

In accordance with Terry's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026, at The Snow Funeral Home, 3775 N. Center Rd., Saginaw, Michigan. The Reverend Paul Kruse will officiate. Friends and family wishing to pay their respects will be greeted by the family beginning at 9:30 a.m. prior to the Memorial Service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider memorials to St. John Lutheran Church of Houghton Lake or to the Fordney Club of Saginaw County.
