Kelly Jo Hamsley, 65, of Louisville, KY, passed away on November 6th, 2023,fter a long battle with cancer. Kelly was born on October 3rd, 1958, to Donald and Phyllis Hoffman in Saginaw , MI. After Kelly graduated from Arthur Hill High School , she went on to study education at Central Michigan University and eventually obtained her Master's Degree in Education from University of Louisville. She taught children for the next 28 years, earning several awards and accolades, including Social Studies Teacher of the Year. Kelly retired from Jefferson County Public Schools in 2011. In 1981, Kelly met Patrick Eddie Hamsley at Churchill Park School .

After falling madly in love, they married on October 23, 1982. Kelly and Pat went on to have 2 children, Kyle and Ryan Hamsley. Kelly was preceded in death by her parents. Kelly and Pat also lost their son, Ryan Hamsley, who sadly passed away the same day 3 years ago on Nov 6, 2020. Kelly is survived by her husband of 41 years, Patrick Eddie Hamsley, her son, Kyle Hamsley (Kasey), and her grandson Carson who was the apple of her eye. She is also survived by her sister Kay Goluska (Che); her nephews, Wolf, Xander, Jeremiah and Justin; and nieces, Vivian and Kristen, who absolutely adored her, as well as countless In-laws, nieces and nephews on the Hamsley side.

Kelly was so incredibly loved by all her friends and family. She was the life of any party and people instantly loved her. She was a Member of Moose Lodge 5 since 2005, served on Women of The Moose Board, Senior Regent (where she earned Academy of Friendship and College of Regents degrees). Kelly was also a member of Jeffersontown Senior Center. Kelly has so many dear friends that are going to miss her. She loved to play games, especially Texas Hold-em, where you had better be ready to just hand over your money.

She loved vacations - going on cruises, traveling to Michigan to visit Tawas City or Frankenmuth, or just going all over to places like Gatlinburg, Florida or Blue River Camp. She was always ready to make you laugh, or be that friend that was tried and true. She truly was a wonderful woman who was loved fiercely by all who knew her.

Kelly's visitation will be 3:00 pm - 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 9th, at Highlands Funeral Home, 3331 Taylorsville Road. Her funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, November 10th, at Highlands.
