Allen James Hoffman

Feb 12, 1949 - May 14, 2020

Allen James Hoffman, 71, of Hale, formerly of Shields, our devoted, generous, kind, and loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend passed away on the afternoon of Thursday, May 14, 2020 at Ascension - St. Mary's Hospital.

Al was born in Saginaw on February 12, 1949, the son of the late George and Clara (Hak) Hoffman. He was a 1967 graduate of Douglas McArthur High School and went on to work for General Motors - Grey Iron (Central Foundry), before retiring after 25 years of service. On March 27, 1971, Al was united in marriage to the former Diane Kay Dark, who he met through mutual friends. Sadly, Diane preceded Al on November 12, 2013 after 42 years of marriage. Al was an avid outdoorsman; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, and above all, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

He leaves to carry on his legacy, his children, Michael and Jennifer Hoffman, Brent Hoffman and Amy Kissane, and Christine and Ryan Stockford; grandchildren, Jacob and Nicholas Hoffman, Ian Kissane, and Ashlyn and Allison Stockford; siblings, Clara Nelson, Ronnie and Rhoda Hoffman, along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and his wife, Al was preceded in death by his brothers, Edward (Nancy) Hoffman and William Hoffman, and sister, Delores (Jim) Reichle.

Private arrangements have been entrusted to Skorupski Family Funeral Home & Cremation Services (formerly Reitz-Herzberg), 1550 Midland Rd., between State & Gratiot. Interment will be held privately in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family online at www.skorupskis.com.
