In Memory

Susan Jacqmain (Daoust)

Susan Daoust Frankenmuth, MI Susan Louise Daoust, age 74, passed away peacefully in her home on June 27, 2023. She was born March 25, 1949, in Henryetta, Oklahoma, to Arthur and Patricia Jacqmain. Sue was the oldest of their 10 children, and was raised in Saginaw, Michigan. She married her beloved husband, Timothy Daoust, on May 6, 1972, and he has lovingly stood by her in sickness and in health for the past 51 years. Sue was the proud mother of her only daughter, Amy, and loving “Nana” to her four grandchildren – Brendan, Emma, Tynan and Maddie – all of whom were the light of her life. Her favorite places to be were cheering on her grandkids in any of their sports and activities. She was known for her generosity, and was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister and friend. If you knew Sue, you were likely the recipient of one of her many acts of kindness over the years. She was truly the most selfless, giving person, and was loved by many. Having lived in Frankenmuth for 42 years, Sue was active in the community, and was very proud of her many friendships and involvement in numerous activities. Some of her points of pride included being an active member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and of her L.E.W.D. book club for more than 25 years; the Chairperson of the Frankenmuth Bavarian Festival Parade for two years; and past member of the Frankenmuth Parks and Recreation Committee and Frankenmuth Women’s Club. In recent years, she was active in the International Chapter of Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) Sisterhood. She was also a charter member of the “Bumpettes!” Sue’s work ethic was second-to-none. She was a true “Energizer bunny,” and never stopped until a task was complete. This characteristic followed her into her work life as well, and she served as a Sales Coordinator at office furniture dealer MarxModa, where she worked side-by-side with her husband Tim for more than 31 years. In addition to her husband, Tim, daughter Amy (Matt) Goebel, and four grandchildren, Sue is survived by her mother, Patricia Jacqmain; brothers, Steve (Charlotte) Jacqmain, Geoff (Kay) Jacqmain and Dan (Gail) Jacqmain; sisters Tricia Grandell, Jeanne (Nolan) Rosenbaum, Cindy Palmer and Cherie Jacqmain; brother-in-laws Don (Sandi) Daoust and Mike Findley; sister-in-laws Marty (Bernie) Rottiers; Sally Jacqmain; Ellen Burchfield; and Caroline (Greg) Gamache; and many nieces, nephews and Godchildren. She was preceded in death by her father, Arthur Jacqmain; brother, A. Michael Jacqmain; and sister Mary Findley. Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, June 29, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home, 590 N. Franklin St., Frankenmuth, MI 48734. Visitation will also be held on Friday, June 30, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. prior to the funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 958 E. Tuscola St., Frankenmuth, MI 48734. Burial services to follow. Those interested in making a donation in Sue’s honor can do so to the Ronald McDonald House of mid-Michigan. Arrangements entrusted to Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth. Please sign our guest book or share an online condolence with the family at www.cederbergfh.com.
