In Memory

Joseph Luplow

Joseph “Joe” H. Luplow, age 71, of Saginaw, passed away on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, with family by his side. Joe was born on July 14, 1949, to Donald and Patricia (Schmiegel) Luplow.

Joe attended Michigan State University and went on to receive his law degree from Detroit College of Law in 1986. He opened his own law firm and practiced for 35 years. On May 12, 1989, Joe married the love of his life, Maureen Cole. Together they raised their two children, Zachary and Lauren. Joe was a true MSU Spartan alumni and was a season ticket holder for over 30 years. He attended the Rose Bowl in 2014 when State defeated Stanford. Joe liked history and was an avid reader. He never missed a question on Jeopardy! He was also a movie buff – it didn’t matter what genre. Joe and Maureen belonged to a movie club that went every Saturday. He loved going to his cottage up north with his family. One of his favorite things to do was nap on the beach. Joe also belonged to a breakfast club, where he and his friends would get together every Friday morning and solve all the world’s problems. Joe was a very quick wit and could be extremely sarcastic. His kids remember him saying, “Better to be a smart ass than a dumb ass!”

Joe is survived by his wife, Maureen; his children, Zachary (Shannon) Luplow and Lauren (fiancé Dan Scott); his sister, Lori (Randy) Cupp; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Don, and his mother, Pat.
