John Boehm

Went home to be with the Lord on Friday, June 3, 2011, at the age of 65 years. John Gerhardt Boehm was born July 2, 1945, in Bluffton, Ohio, the son of the late Kermit and Ruby (Heldman) Boehm. He graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary with the Class of 1963. He attended Bethany and Dr. Martin Luther Colleges in Wisconsin, receiving his Bachelor Degree in Education. He served with the US Air Force during the Vietnam War. He retired from Michigan Lutheran Seminary, where he had been Director of Food Services. He was an active member of St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, serving as Elder, Deacon and Usher. He was a member of American Legion Post #439. He married Diane R. Deacon on September 16, 1973; she survives him. He also leaves two sons, John G. Boehm Jr. and his wife Renee, Saginaw; James B. Boehm, Las Vegas, NV; six grandchildren, Cassandra Cummings, Danielle Boehm, Nathaniel Cummings, Andrew Cummings, Joshua Boehm and Sarah Boehm; three brothers, David and Julaine Boehm, Bluffton, OH; Stephen and Doris Boehm, Rice Lake, Wisconsin; Nathan and Kay Boehm, Jenera, OH; a sister-in-law, Janice Boehm, Saginaw; many nieces, nephews and their families. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Daniel J. Boehm, and by a sister-in-law, Priscilla Boehm. Funeral service will take place 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 7, 2011, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Court and Bond Streets. Committal services will take place later in Ohio. His family will receive friends at the W. L. Case & Company Funeral Chapel, 4480 Mackinaw Road, from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. on Monday, and then at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
