Barbara Ruth (Schultz) Harris won her battle with cancer here on Earth and now sits next to Jesus in heaven. She passed away peacefully, in her sleep, in the early morning on Thursday, February 15, 2018.

Barb was born on February 24, 1946 in Saginaw, Michigan to Rev. Armin and Eleanor Schultz. She had 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Paul, John and Richard and Margaret, Kathy and Linda. Richard passed away shortly after birth. Through years of marriages, kids and moves, she remained close to all of her siblings.

In August of 1975, she married the love of her life, Jim Harris. Through their 42 years of marriage, they lived in 8 states and had 2 daughters; Krista and Katie. Jim's job brought them to Grand Forks, ND over 10 years ago. Although she didn’t care for winter, Barb liked the fact that she was close to her sisters and brother living in nearby states.

In April of 2015, a new love of hers was born when Krista gave birth to her one and only grandchild, Matthew James. She enjoyed caring for him during the day during his first year.

Sadly, she had to stop caring for him in December of 2106, when she was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer. Like the Breast cancer she beat 20 years earlier, she fought this disease also. With each scan that she had, the tumor shrunk. After a tough year, in December 2017, she was told that she beat it; she no longer had Pancreatic cancer. However, the side effects from the chemo combined with newly found Liver cancer continued to make her sick and weak. She had fought for a year and was tired. She was a fighter right up until the end.

She is sorely missed by her love of over 43 years, Jim; her daughters, Krista and Katie, her grandson Matthew and her buddy, Billy the dog. Also her sister, Linda (Armin) and her brother, Paul (Joyce) and brother’s in law, Dewayne, Ed and John as well as many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Kathy and Margaret; her brothers Richard and John and Jim’s parents, Richard and Shirley.

Barb was the sweetest and kindest women you ever met. Even when she was sick, she always had a smile and asked how you were. She loved God with all her heart and that love shone through her. She was generous and had a good sense of humor. She enjoyed cooking, baking, needlepoint, gardening and walking Billy.

She is walking with Jesus now. Until we meet again…
