Paul R. Wecker, 69, of Midland, died early Sunday morning, Jan. 8, 2017 at Brittany Manor in Midland. He was born Dec. 31, 1947 in Midland, son of the late Ewald and Emma (Grebe) Wecker. Paul graduated from Michigan Lutheran Seminary in 1966 and Northern Michigan University in 1971. Paul then served in the U.S. Army from 1971-1973.
On Sept. 23, 1972 Paul married Teresa Brown in Midland. Paul spent most of his working career with The Dow Chemical Co., working at job sites in Michigan, Oklahoma, Texas and Minnesota.
Paul was an amazing, family-oriented man. He was a devout Christian, devoted husband and a loving father. Paul loved nothing more than spending time with his wife and two sons. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, water skiing and socializing with friends for hours on end.
He is survived by his wife, Teresa of Midland; son, Eric (Aimee); and grandson, Easton of Commerce Township, Mich.; and son, David of Okemos, Mich.; along with his two sisters, Trudy (Gene) Ulanowicz of Grand Rapids, and Helen (Lew) Meyers of Lebanon, Pa.; and brother, Robert Plath of Mesa, Ariz. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Norma Plath.
Funeral services for Paul will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017 at St. John's Lutheran Church, 505 E. Carpenter St. in Midland. Pastors Dan Kempin and Josh Parsons will officiate with burial in Midland City Cemetery. Paul's family will receive friends at Ware-Smith-Woolever Funeral Home, 1200 W. Wheeler St. in Midland on Friday, Jan. 13, 2017 from 4-8 p.m. with a time of sharing occurring at 7 p.m. and an additional visitation at St. John's on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.
