Bob and I had a friendship that goes back to kindergarten, attending Salem Lutheran School, Owosso, Michigan together.  Bob was my good friend in grade school, high school, and college.  We both left NWC the same year.  I went into the military, ended up in California.  Bob went back to Michigan, and we lost touch.  I could always rely on Bob to lift my spirits and be a help when needed.  We had so many fun times "just hanging out" together.  He really could be quite “impish”, but I enjoyed his humor.  One time at NWC, he said he would collect $5 for me if I would let him shave my head.  I agreed, but I thought he could never get the other guys to contribute, or that he would back out.  They did and he came back in 20 minutes with the $5 for my “haircut”.  How could I say “No”.  Cut away Bob!

Bob always made me feel so comfortable around him.  He and I went through a few very hard times together and it only strengthened our relationship.  I was so saddened to hear of his passing.

Bob is in the last row middle and I'm in the second row far right.

As presented to me by Lynne Reich, Bob's wife:

"We had a wonderful marriage. Bob got sick right after our 2nd youngest son, Jordan, was severely injured in a bad car accident in 2005. That was real hard on Bob. He did not go to the doctor right away because he devoted his time to helping our son recover.  When Bob did go to the doctor, he found out he had stage four colon cancer. He lived until January 2007. He was working for Pop Off Meats as a salesman from our home in Owosso, Michigan at the time of his death. His family was the love of his life. We have 8 children Cimberly, Monica, Raechel, Jason, Jared, Nicole, Jordan, and Isaiah. We also have 13 grandkids so far. When Jordan got hurt, Bob was so dedicated to helping him recover. It was a tough road for Jordan. He lost both of his legs at a such a young age, but he is doing very well walking now. I am now living with Jordan in a house Bob had built for him and babysitting the grandkids. There isn't a day that goes by I think of how Bob would be so proud of his family".
