I knew Kay growing up on Rural Ave.  We lived about 2 blocks apart.  The family's house was at the top of the hill and we lived a block or two farther up the road, by the reservoir.  I was in school with her all the way through grades 1-12 at Baker, McKinley, Leslie, and South.  There was a small group of kids all within a couple years of each other in age that lived within a few blocks, so we often hung out and played at things that young kids played at.  There were Margie, LeeAnn, John, David, Carl, Johnny, Kay, and me.  We had lots of fun together when we were young.  I walked to school most days and the long slog up the hill at the end of the day was occasionally eased by Jensen's little Rambler sedan pulling over and offering me a ride up the hill.  It was always a welcome relief.  As we grew older in school, out paths diverged and we didn't see much of each other.  I do remember, however, taking French classes with her from Madame Smith.  I never saw Kay again after graduation, but imagined that she went on to do great things.  I remember her as being always kind, considerate, and smart.  I rarely go back to that part of Salem anymore, our house was sold, demolished, a subdivision went in, but when I do, I always think of Kay when I crest the hill.  Fond childhood memories, indeed.  Rest in peace, Kay.

I was saddened to learn of Kay's passing. I remember her beautiful brown eyes and her kindness. Many good memories.
