David Swain

David Lewis Swain, 49, of Roanoke, passed away on Friday, October 21, 2011. David was born on December 10, 1961 in Salem. He graduated from Salem High School in 1980 and went on to Virginia Tech where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance in 1984. While there, he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity, Epsilon chapter. His church membership was held at the Goodwin United Methodist Church in Salem. Professionally, he had worked in the banking industry since 1986. He also served on the Board of Directors of Junior Achievement for many years and was a member of the Pleasants Masonic Lodge #63, A.F & A.M. Preceding him in death was his father, David Nathaniel Swain. His surviving family includes his children, Maeve Catherine Swain and Spenser Alexander Swain; mother, Tabbie Wade Swain; and wife, Catherine Elizabeth Swain. The family will be receiving friends on Friday, October 28, 2011 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at 3 p.m. in the funeral home’s chapel. In lieu of flowers, contributions are encouraged in David’s name to the Junior Achievement of Southwest Virginia at 3433 Brambleton Avenue #202 in Roanoke, VA 24018-6537. Gigi Baker

I am very saddned to hear about David's passing. He was a very nice guy in school. My heart goes out to his family and his children. I will say a special pryer for him and his family at church!!
