Scott McBride

DALLAS — Scott M. McBride, 63, passed away peacefully March 12, 2019, at home following a long illness. Scott was born June 17, 1955, in Salina, Kan., to Frank J. and Emma P. McBride.

In 1977, Scott graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Scott moved to Texas in the early 1980s, first to San Antonio and then to Dallas, where he remained for the rest of his life.

Scott was employed for a number of years as a technical illustrator for Texas Instruments, and then worked for the city of Dallas as a CAD technician until his retirement in 2016. A talented artist, Scott was skilled in painting, drawing and printmaking. Scott was also an avid modeler and exhibited many of his creations at the North Texas Figure Club, where they were greatly admired. Gifted with an exceptional memory, Scott also enjoyed writing detailed accounts of his childhood and sharing those memories with his family.

Scott is survived by his sister, Susan (Pike) of Phoenix, Md.; and his brothers, Steven of Portland, Ore., and Mark of Annandale, Va. He was preceded in death by his parents.

A memorial service was held at Gonzalez Funeral Home and Crematory, Dallas, on Thursday, April 11.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in Scott’s name be made to the University of Kansas.
