America was a childhood friend of mine. She was like family to me. My mom still has a picture of us from a birthday party she attended at my house, we must have been in third or fourth grade. We kept in touch up until 1995. She was moving away at that time from Salinas.
Just recently, I found out of her passing. I always thought of America through out my dramatic life and thought we would catch up 'later'. I never imagined her life would be this short. I miss her very much and I know she is in a much better place. I know in my heart we will 'catch up' in our next life. RIP
