John Richard Newell - August 2, 1942 - May 22, 2016

John Richard Newell, 73, of Kingsport, TN, died at his residence following a battle with cancer.

He was born in Statesville, NC, attended Boyden High School in Salisbury, NC, studied at Catawba College and graduated from ETSU. He was employed by Paty Lumber Company and most recently Gutter Suplliers. He was a member oh the Cherokee Rod and Gun Club. He was a longtime Scoutmaster in Bristol and also belonged to the George L. Carter Railroad Museum at ETSU. He was a member of Higher Ground Baptist Church.

John Newell is survived by his wife, Bobbie Warren Newell, a daughter, Melissa Ealey and husband, Tommy, a son Mike Newell, and his wife Sherri; step-sons, Chad Domby and wife, Tiffany, Chris Domby and wife Maggie; 7 grandchildren; his brother, Eugene Newell and wife, Doni; a special sister-in-law, Pat Cole along with several nieces and nephews.
