William Barry Shives died July 24, 1978, in Salisbury, North Carolina.  He graduated from Duke University and was associated with Proctor Chemical Company for 12 years.  He was a member of Haven Lutheran Church.  He was survived by his wife, Missy Bush Shives, two sons, John F. Shives and David E. Shives, two brothers, Richard A. Shives and Victor W. Shives, and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Johnny M. Shives.
