John Nuslein

John was born in Salt Lake City, January 27, 1936 and died September 13, 2010.He is survived by three sons, Cameron, John and Michael and a daughter, Lisa.  He was a widely known and admired professional musician, band leader, music, and Yoga teacher, being ordained Swami in the Hindu religious tradition.  For many years, John toured with his own jazz and popular music group.  He was a member of the Utah Symphony Orchestra; featured bassist with The Beverley Brothers, perennial favorite at the Manhattan Club and, most recently played with Heart and Soul, a non-profit, outreach performing group providing musical entertainment for audiences in residential care facilities.  John was the founder of the Salt Lake Jazz Society, now the Utah Jazz Society.  He will be missed with great affection and fondness as a most charming, talented musical and spiritual inspiration to young and old alike.
