Stewart Smith

Stewart Crane Smith, 73, of Riverton, Utah passed away at home on December 27, 2009.  Stewart was born on May 22, 1936, the second of four children of Andrew Delbert and Oliver Crane Smith.  He attended the University of Utah and graduated with a BS and Master's Degree in Social Work and became a Diplomate in Clinical Social Work.  He opened his own private practice providing social work services for over 35 years and found great satisfaction in providing help to those who came to him.  He enjoyed teaching as an adjunct professor at the LDS Business College for over 20 years.

Stewart was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.  He served honorably in the Ottowa Canada Mission.  He married Mary Louise Snow in the Salt Lake Temple on June 5, 1964.  He served as Bishop of the Holladay 21st Ward and later in the Branch Presidency of the Primary Children's Medical Center.  Stewart was an avid tennis player and enjoyed his Saturday games.  He loved to hunt at the Harrison Duck Club and served many years as the Secretary.  He taught his children the value of work as they worked with family to rebuild his parents' family cabin.  Stewart enjoyed spending time at the cabin with his family.

Stewart is survived by Mary Louise Snow, his wife of 45 years; their four children, Stewart Randall Smith (Tamara), Idaho Falls, ID, David Andrew Smith, Herriman UT, Amy Louise Smith Kelley (Brian), Riverton, UT, and Allen Crane Smith, Riverton, UT, and 10 grandchildren.  He is also survived by two sisters, Annette Smith Lund (Douglas), Mesquite, NV and Carolyn Smith Brown (David), Salt Lake City, UT.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Suzanne Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on December 31, 2009 at the Cedar Point Ward 5562 W. 13680 So, Herriman, UT where friends may call an hour prior.  Interment will be at the Lake Hills Cemetery
