Linda Rae Andrew Gardner

January 25, 1952 – July 4, 2024

Linda Rae Andrew Gardner, 72, passed away July 4, 2024, in West Valley City, Utah. She was born January 25, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Ronald and Lillian Mantyla Andrew. She met Paul R. Gardner on a blind date and married him five months later on September 6, 1974, in the Salt Lake Temple. That was the beginning of almost fifty years of marriage.

Linda was artistic and enjoyed sharing her talents in calligraphy and drawing, especially for ward and school events. She delighted in decorating, keeping a clean home, and gardening. Linda had a talent for sewing and excelled at creating Halloween costumes, holiday decorations, dresses, and toys for her children. Her cooking and baking skills were well-known and enjoyed by many, particularly her breads and cinnamon rolls. Most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren.

As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Linda was called to serve in many organizations, including Stake and Ward Relief Society, Young Women, and Primary; with serving in the Primary being some of the most rewarding years of her life. She loved all the women, young women, and children she served; but especially the children.

Once her children were in school, she began working for Granite School District. Linda retired after working as a secretary for over 20 years. She was admired and respected by the school children and her colleagues alike.

Linda is survived by her husband Paul, her children, Brent (Melanie) Gardner, Jonathan (Danielle) Gardner, Emily (Travis) Allen, Tyler (Deanna) Gardner; eleven grandchildren, Bethany (Casey) Nash, Ashton Gardner, Hayden Gardner, Megan Gardner, Caitlin Allen, Ethan Gardner, Lillian Gardner, Nixon Gardner, Sophia Gardner, Evan Allen and Hudson Gardner, with a granddaughter due in September. She is also survived by her brother Kirk (Lynnette) Andrew and sister Sonja (Kurtis) Aoki.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Lillian, two of her sisters, Korey and Tami, and both sets of grandparents, Ben and Melba Andrew and Walfred and Ellen Mantyla.

Linda will be honored with a public viewing Friday, July 12, 2024, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City, Utah. Her funeral service will be held Saturday, July 13, 2024, at 12:00 p.m., in the Hunter 1st Ward building located at 3665 South 6000 West, West Valley City, Utah. The family wishes to thank Linda's nurses, Laura and Michelle, and her CNAs, Kennadi, Marie, and Jordi from South Davis and Symbii Hospice. They truly showed her love and respect during her final years.
