Robin Stewart Hemingway's Obituary  (Thank you to Richard Johansen for this notification)

Robin Stewart Hemingway, affectionately known as Rob or Rabein, passed away on March 4, 2026, while traveling in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Born on September 2, 1952, in Salt Lake City, Utah, Rabein lived a life defined by curiosity, adventure, and a deep connection to the world around him.

Rabein attended the University of Utah, where he excelled academically and socially. As president of the Skull and Bones Society and an avid tennis player, he demonstrated leadership and determination. His political involvement began early when he became the youngest delegate in Utah to work on Ronald Reagan's presidential campaign and played a key role in organizing the Utah Republican Convention. Rabein also served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in South Korea.

Professionally, Rabein built a successful career in commercial real estate, founding companies in Texas and California. His passion for health and wellness led to numerous business ventures and partnerships.

Rabein’s love for travel and nature shaped his personal life. After living in California, he spent over 20 years on the Big Island of Hawaii. A true world traveler with an insatiable curiosity about cultures and spiritual practices, Rabein embraced life with an open heart and mind. Whether exploring distant lands or finding peace in nature’s beauty, his adventurous spirit inspired those who knew him.

Rabein is survived by his children: June Hemingway Sanson, Rachel Hemingway Parsons, Matthew Rob Hemingway, and Kaitlyn Hemingway Mannarino; his grandchildren: Carter James Sanson, Layla Grace Sanson, Crew Anthony Parsons, Azurah Mozart Hemingway, Siena Hall Mannarino, James Stewart Mannarino, and Penelope Lynn Mannarino; his former spouse Dodie Rufener Hemingway; and siblings Vern Rulon Hemingway, Colleen Sadler, Chris Ellis, Jody VanValkenburg, Carma Hemingway, Jennis Hemingway, William Marcus Hemingway, and Jerry Wickham. He was predeceased by his son Stewart Rob Hemingway; parents Betty Lou Hemingway Wickham and Vern Theo Hemingway; and sisters Dixie Amanda Hemingway and Electa Pauleen Hemingway.

A memorial service will be held on August 29, 2026 in Honomu, Hawaii followed by a reception. A second service will take place on October 10, 2026 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
