Scott C. Peterson "Toots" St. George, Utah - Scott C. Peterson, age 57, returned home to his Heavenly Father on December 31, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer. He was surrounded by his loved ones at the time of his death. Scott was born June 29, 1953 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Lloyd and Mayme Peterson. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Scott spent his childhood amusing his family with his friends with his energetic disposition and his sense of humor. He graduated from South High School in 1971. Scott married Debra Eskelsen in 1973 and they were blessed with a beautiful baby girl, Melissa Ann. Debra and Scott later divorced. Scott joined the Army and served in Korea from 1976 to 1978. Scott had a love for reading, collecting sports memorabilia, following the Running Utes and the Utah Jazz. He had a passion for the game of golf and played almost every golf course in the state of Utah. He created and operated his own business, Herriman Golf. He learned the art of making, repairing and selling golf clubs and equipment. He studied the game of golf and was a trivia expert. In 1999 while working for Larry H. Miller, Scott met and fell in love with Diana Adams. They married and Scott was blessed with two step-sons, Matthew and David Wayne Adams. In 2006, Diana and Scott moved to Ivins, Utah. Scott was employed by Harmon's and worked in the meat department. In 2009, Scott's daughter, Melissa gave birth to Scott's grandson, Jamison Beard. One of his greatest joys was to play with Jamison and he enjoyed interacting with him on Skype. He was extremely proud of his daughter and often bragged about how beautiful she is. Scott loved life, loved his family, and enjoyed spending time with them. He will be missed and never forgotten by those who knew and loved him. Scott is survived by his wife, Diana; his daughter, Melissa (Tim) Beard; grandson, Jamison Timothy Beard; his mother, Mayme Haycock Peterson; his brothers: Larry (Valerie) Peterson and Paul (Annette) Peterson; step-son, Matthew (Erica) Adams; nieces: Nikki and Amanda Peterson; and nephew, Alex Peterson. He was preceded in death by his father, Lloyd Vaughn Peterson and his step-son, David Wayne Adams. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 7, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at the Parleys LDS Stake Center, 1870 East Parleys Canyon Blvd., Salt Lake City, Utah. Visitations will be held Thursday, January 6th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Wasatch Lawn Mortuary, 3401 South Highland Drive, Salt Lake City, Utah and on Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. at the Stake Center, prior to services. Interment will be held Friday at 12:30 p.m. at the Herriman City Cemetery. Arrangements entrusted to the care of Metcalf Mortuary, (435) 673-4221.
