I was in grade school, middle school and high school with Ellsworth.  He was very bright, an excellent athlete, and simply a very good human being.  I spent many years in Spanish classes with Ellsworth.  He just seemed to do everything well.  So unfortunate that life didn't give him more years than it did.

Chipper,  it's hard to imagine that you've been gone 44 years.  I look back at our sophmore year in football and you pin the nickname of "Saki" on me.  You must have thought I was a drunk.  Truly, you were a great friend.  Your father and I served on the Salt Lake Bowling Association board over 30 years together.  I remember sitting down at a board meeting breakfast next to your father talking about you and your brother, Leonard. I mentioned to your dad I was shocked of your passing after your mission.  You've been missed by yours truly.  Rest in peace my friend, I hope to see you one day.

I registered for Trig senior year - I have to explain that I am not a mathimatician -  but I was afraid that I would have to take remedial math at the U.   I know this is ridiculous, but nevertheless, I found myself in Trig with Mr. Cook.  I actually was able to keep up on some of it and I loved my slide rule - but many times I was lost. We were seated alphabetically so Ellsworth was seated behind me - lucky guy, and he helped me understand enough so that I got through the class and didn't fail. We had a cute friendship and we blew kisses at each other in the halls (he wrote that in my yearbook). When he died, I was heartbroken -  but I will forever be thankful to him for pulling me through. That was the end of my math education - I tested out of math at the U. - you don't need math if you major in Art - but years later I began framing art and, low and behold, I had to become an expert in (yuk) fractions.
