Fisherman extraordinaire, Michael Dougherty passed away on Aug. 10, 2019. Michael lived in Sandpoint for 40-plus years and was well known and loved by many. Michael was an avid hunter and fisherman, spending many hours in the fields and on the rivers of his favorite places.

Michael met the love of his life, Kathleen, and they spent 25 years together in laughter and happiness. Many years Kathleen and Michael would travel to Mexico for the winter where they created many deep friendships.

Michael was a avid fly fisherman on the Missouri River in Craig, Montana. He spent countless hours on the Missouri along with some of his closest and dearest friends. Michael’s love for fishing lead him to also enjoy the excitement of saltwater fishing.

Michael will be remembered for his humor, strength, kindness, his friendship to many, his love for the great outdoors and his deep love for Kathleen.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date. If you choose to remember Michael in any way, do so by walking to the shore of Lake Pend Oreille, the bank of the Missouri River or the edge of the ocean and pause a moment in the beauty of the areas that Michael so loved.
